I have my copy of A Dance With Dragons, so yay! I have been jealous, seeing posts go past and not being able to read them. But fuck, it's heavy. Harry Potter neck for me.
This tumblr post talks about domestic violence and the House S7 finale, and explains really clearly why I feel so uncomfortable with Cuddy's storylines over the past few seasons. (Love the character, hate the writing...) That chart, breaking down the aspects of abuse, and how many of them have happened on screen. *shudders* There's watching a show go down in flames, which I have done for X-Files and thought I was doing for Criminal Minds (but they keep stringing me along with the casting game.) Then there's watching a show tear its characters to pieces, and I can't do that. Couldn't do it for Dollhouse, can't do it for House.
More cheerfully, Warehouse 13 started!
Okay, I just need to say this now: how in love are Myka and HG? HOW IN LOVE? So in love. (It kind of helps me to know that the actors are on board with the UST, too.) How sad and tired was Helena? (And how much is she the kind of character that can only learn by making these massive destructive life changes?) Also, I have a huge narrative kink for transferable consciousness set-ups. The crossover potential here is enormous. Emma Frost/HG. Any telepath ever/HG. Myka and HG taking refuge in mental landscapes. *loves*
Mrs Frederick has a new chauffeur. *has a sad*
I like Jinks, the new agent - he's very together, and is adeptly looking for his place in this whacked-out team. I really liked the way they worked his abilities into the storyline, and showed it as something that he's learned to live with, and that isn't always a good thing. And he's the new gay character, apparently? Yay for that, and double yay for that not coming out in the first episode as though it is his defining characteristic.
CLAUDIA ROCKING OUT ON HENDRIX'S GUITAR!
Everyone - Artie, Pete, Claudia - they're all having such an awesome time. I love this ridiculous, adorable show that doesn't take itself too seriously.
This is apparently a reverse reaction post.
In conclusion:

LOVE. Anguished love. How can Helena hurt her like this? HOW CAN MYKA NOT SEE SHE IS GRIEVING?
*swoons*

Date: 2011-07-15 08:29 pm (UTC)I was actually a little irritated at how Myka first appeared, though. She'd been sexy and awesome all through the series, and the first glimpse of her at the bookstore is with bad hair and terrible glasses. Come on, people working at bookstores are sexy too! D:

I was really prepared to not like the new guy but I do, I like him very much, and I'm glad they're keeping him and getting Myka back (not that I ever had any doubt about the latter).

Date: 2011-07-30 11:34 am (UTC)Man, our icons... things were so much better before they cut her hair and gave her a fringe. It's starting to be the point at which TV series take a down turn with their female characters. It happened on Criminal Minds. Everyone got a fringe, then they ditched most of the female cast.
